2026 Waldron's Backyard Serama Show

The Third Annual Backyard Serama Showdown, hosted by Kelly and Judy Waldron of Waldron’s Way, was once again an incredible success—and this little backyard show has quickly become an event people are marking on their calendars!

Exhibitors traveled from across the country to gather for a weekend of Seramas, competition, friendship, and fun. This year’s birds were evaluated by judges Tyler Anderson of Oklahoma, Angela Heili of Florida, and Jenifer Lawyer of New Hampshire, bringing together exhibitors and judges from across the nation.

But what makes the Backyard Serama Showdown so special goes far beyond the judging tables.

There was a feeling in the air that is hard to put into words—the fellowship that comes from bringing together old friends while welcoming new ones. Tents stretched across beautifully manicured lawns, farm animals wandered nearby, children ran and played, and the smell of incredible food filled the air. Everywhere you looked there was laughter and conversation, with exhibitors sharing stories from years ago—and making new memories they’ll be talking about for years to come.

And what a journey this event has had!

Just three years ago, the first Backyard Serama Showdown welcomed approximately 50 birds and a handful of exhibitors. This September, that little backyard gathering exploded to an incredible 274 birds and more than 30 exhibitors!

That growth tells the story.

People don’t just come here to show birds. They come for the experience. They come for the friendships. They come because it feels like home.

There is something about the Backyard Serama Showdown that creates a feeling of homecoming—even if it’s your very first time walking onto the property. It’s comfortable. It’s welcoming. It’s family.

And if you missed this year’s Serama Showdown, you may want to start making plans now—we can only imagine what Year Four will bring!

Three years ago, Kelly and Judy Waldron opened their backyard and started a Serama show.

Today, they’re building a tradition.

The show was awesome. Kelly and his wife went above and beyond.   It was great to finally meet Jenifer  in person and catch up with Angela. I do have to give a huge shout out to Tyler Anderson.   He is fantastic with the kids and gives them so much encouragement.

This was Xyla's first show and she never could have done it without Tyler and Natalia's support.

“We love Mr. Kelly. He gave (yes gave) Tyler his very first Serama 3 years ago. We had  watched the Serama tabletop show at the Red Stick Poultry Show, here in Louisiana, for a few years. We finally decided to give this breed (and this group of crazy bird lovers)
a try & we have loved every minute we have had with them.  Both the birds and the people 😂😍
Mr. Kelly loves this breed so much and loves getting youth excited about this breed. He has a real passion for kids and birds. It shows in his willingness to open his yard to strangers who want to come  learn more, eat good food, and have a great time. That says a lot about him and his wife,  Judy. They don't let opinions or differences stand in the way of encouraging this hobby for children and new families.  As long as he will have us, we will always make plans to attend Waldron's Backyard Serama Showdown in Gonzales.”

“The show at Kelly and Judy Waldrons home was more than the normal Serama show.

The beautiful field covered in shade, people barefoot in the grass, farm animal and children playing made it much more. It was a family reunion of wonderful people and great memories.  The birds, people and everything else was extraordinary!”

“Thank you the Kelly and Judy Waldron for putting on a great show! The environment was amazing and the birds themselves were outstanding. Couldn’t ask for a better group to show with and against.”

Here are some of my favorite moments from the day!

“What an amazing way to kick off the show season! ❤️🐓
There’s just something about an outdoor Serama show that makes everything feel more relaxed, homey and just plain fun. Waldron’s Backyard Serama Showdown was exactly that.
A huge thank you to Kelly Waldron and Judy Gravois Waldron for welcoming all of us onto their beautiful property and putting this show together at their own expense so that we, as Serama breeders, have a place to bring out and show our babies. That kind of generosity deserves to be recognized and appreciated. ❤️
And what a setting! The perfectly manicured lawn, all the beautiful animals clearly living their best lives, and the friendly donkeys just casually wandering around like they owned the place 😂 — it all made for such a special atmosphere. You could tell how much love and care goes into everything there.
The judges, Jenifer Lawyer, Angela Heili of The Hobby Chicken and Tyler Anderson were wonderful, too. I especially appreciated that they didn’t just judge the birds — they explained, taught and shared their knowledge along the way. That makes a show so much more valuable, especially when we’re all there because we love these little birds and want to keep learning and improving.
And Serama Extraordinaire came home with a couple of wins! 🏆

Odette — Reserve Ayam Female
What a great start to the show season!
Today I’m grateful, exhausted, still recovering from the trip 😂 … but somehow completely energized and already excited for the next one.
Happy. Just really, really happy. ❤️🐓

” My first visit to the state of Louisiana was nothing short of exceptional.

Our hosts Kelly and Judy Waldron Made me feel right at home from the first “Hello”.
Setting  a warm,, friendly, relaxed and Energetic show… Lots of animals, children, people exhibiting and people catching up at tables. Wonderful food , Weather  and Fellowship.

So great meeting many exhibitors that I’ve known for upwards to 15 years, but had never met. It was like going to a family reunion.

Having two youth exhibitors, as clerk really helps to emphasize the purpose in the future of SCNA.
Education, fun And sharing the passion that we all have for these little birds.
I will never forget this show or any of these people, I look forward to when I can come back again someday!!!
Kelly and Judy I feel like I’ve expanded my family!!! “

“Kelly and Judy Waldron’s show is one of my all time favorite shows. I always enjoy coming out to judge and enjoy their hospitality. Each year it grows which is a testament to how well run it is and its popularity amongst the exhibitors and our friends. I always look forward to seeing them and all who attend their Backyard Serama Show.”

"Had a wonderful time at the Backyard Serama Showdown! 🐥❤️ I was honored to stand beside Angela Heili and serve as her clerk for the day.

The Waldrons are truly wonderful people, and they put on an amazing show for the Serama community. It was such a pleasure to be part of a day filled with beautiful birds, great people, and a shared love for Seramas!

Thank you for all the hard work that goes into making this show such a special event. Until next time! 🐥🏆”

“We had such a great time at the showdown out on the farm!
It was honestly one of those shows where the atmosphere was just as enjoyable as the birds themselves. The hospitality was amazing, everyone was so welcoming, and it was so much fun getting to spend the day around people who are just as passionate about Seramas as we are. And of course, all of the animals were fantastic!
It really felt like we were visiting friends and hanging out with the animals rather than just competing at a show. We had a blast and are already looking forward to the next one!”
