We hope your holidays are filled with laughter & love.
We wanted to share what’s been happening up here in Alaska. We have had some greatthings happen during 2021. In March we participated in Spring into Serama Virtual Show for Districts 6, 7, 8, & 9. Alaska had quite a few birds placed on top. There was a Champion FrizzleFemale “Octavia”, Silked Reserve Female “Cleopatra”, Best in Show Female “Octavia”. We alsohad a Junior place in Female Reserve “Onyx”. It was an excellent show with a lot of beautifulbirds. We had many Juniors participate which is always a wonderful learning opportunity for them.
Lisa Marie Hansen has been made Alaska State Rep for SCNA. She has been working hard to promote SCNA as well as the Serama breed to our Alaskans. There are many kids who do 4-H here in Alaska and these make excellent poultry projects for them.
We have a few new members for our District 8 (PNW) Keri Perry, Lauren Waite, Selynna Parks, and Kim Howe.
We have something kind of neat that is fun to share. Hansen Heritage Homestead sold a breeding trio of silked seramas to Alaska’s Williams Reindeer Farm, who receives hundreds of tourists. So this trio is now on display for tourists to see and learn about! We have heard from them that they are adored and many people ask questions about the breed.
Alaska now has its own Facebook Page and Private Group, “Seramas of Alaska”. Working on building awareness forthe breed! We are currently up to 14 Likes on the Page and 7 Members for the Group! We are excited to watch the growth of those to want to learn more and raise Seramas here in Alaska!
