Member Notice Regarding SCNA Fundraising

The Serama Council of North America (SCNA) would like to remind all members that SCNA does not solicit donations or operate any general “fund” for the organization.

The organization’s operating income comes exclusively from membership dues and purchases made through the official SCNA Shop and not one individual saying they are collecting dues.

The only exception is that individual SCNA-sanctioned shows may conduct fundraising activities specifically to support their own event.
Those fundraising efforts are organized locally and are not fundraising campaigns on behalf of SCNA as a whole.
If anyone, regardless of name familiarity claims to be collecting money for an “SCNA endowment fund,” “SCNA emergency fund,” or any other fundraising
effort or future dues collection on behalf of the organization without the express authorization of the SCNA itself, they are not acting on behalf of SCNA.

Misrepresenting oneself as collecting funds for a nonprofit organization without authorization may violate applicable state and federal laws, including
laws related to charitable solicitation and fraud.

We sincerely appreciate the members who have brought this matter to our attention by submitting screenshots and other documentation. Please continue to do so.
The Governing Council has carefully monitored this situation over the past several months and has been documenting reports as they have been received.
To protect both our members and the integrity of the organization, if you are ever unsure whether a fundraising request is legitimate, please contact the Governing
Council at govcouncil@scnaonline.org and do not money to anyone claiming to represent SCNA, even if you think you know who they are.

Thank you for your continued support. Your membership dues, purchases from the SCNA Shop, and your willingness to report suspicious
activity, help protect our organization and ensure that all funds are handled transparently and responsibly.
