How long have you been raising Seramas?
I first got started with pet-quality Seramas in 2021, but it wasn’t until 2024 that I purchased my first quality show pair. From there, my love for the breed really took off!
How did you get started with Seramas?
I have my husband to thank (or blame) for that! I’ve had Black Bearded Silkies since 2018, I got my first one while I was in college, a hen named “Tina Turner.” Chickens have always been a part of my life, though, as I grew up around them on my family’s farm. Just your typical egg layers. One day, my husband made the mistake of saying, “I’m surprised you don’t have any Seramas since you like bantams.” Of course, that immediately had me wondering, What is a Serama? A little curiosity quickly turned into a new obsession, and the rest is history! What do you enjoy most about the breed? I love how such a tiny bird can have such a huge personality. Every Serama seems to have its own character, and they’re just an incredibly fun breed to be around. One of the unexpected bonuses has been the people. I’ve met some genuinely amazing people and made great friendships through this breed.
What do you enjoy doing outside of Seramas?
Horses have been part of my life since before I was even born! Today, we raise performance horses and prospects for barrel racing futurities. My husband and I are also heavily involved in dog sports, particularly stockdogs. Between the horses, dogs, poultry, and family, animals are a pretty big part of our everyday life!
What made you want to become an SCNA State Representative?
I genuinely enjoy this breed and want to help introduce more people to it. I’ve already gotten several friends involved with Seramas, many of whom had never even heard of the breed before. I’d love to continue sharing what makes Seramas so special while helping build a stronger, more connected community in our area.
What is one goal you have for SCNA in your state?
One of my biggest goals is to help grow our show into one of the largest Serama shows in the Northwest. In 2025, I flew all the way to Georgia to experience one of the best-run Serama shows in the country, and it inspired me to dream big for our area. Someday, I’d love to see people willing to fly across the country to attend our show, too! What are you most looking forward to in your new role? I’m most excited about growing our Serama community, getting more youth involved, and spreading the word about both the breed and SCNA. I want to help create opportunities for new people to discover Seramas, get involved, and fall in love with them. They may be a tiny breed, but I’d love to see them take a very big place in people’s hearts.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself!
My newest and most exciting adventure has nothing to do with chickens, horses, or dogs—I just welcomed my son, Jaxon! He’s already growing up surrounded by animals, so I have a feeling it won’t be long before he’s tagging along to poultry shows, horse events, and stockdog trials with us. Who knows, maybe we’re raising the next generation of Serama exhibitors!

How long have you been raising Seramas?   I started raising Seramas in 2021
How did you get started with Seramas?   I began breeding, raising, and showing poultry as a child in High School. My passion for poultry continued as i raised my daughter and she discovered poultry. As she became even more interested, we discovered the amazing Serama.
What do you enjoy most about the breed?   I think I enjoy the confidence, and yet, the quiet nature, of these statuesque little birds.
What do you enjoy doing outside of Seramas?   I enjoy horseback riding, working with and training service dogs, and then my daughter and I enjoy a good adventure "thrifting".
What made you want to become an SCNA State Representative?   As I have been managing Table Top shows for going on three years now, I have met so many nice and interesting people. I wanted to represent my State and the fantastic people I have met as we grow our hobby. * What is one goal you have for SCNA in your state?   I have a few, and have already started with one of them. I would like to see more shows/opportunities for Seramas to be exhibited. I do a show at my own house, and at the Southern California Poultry Club show. This year i am also adding a Table Top show at the Central Coast Feather Fanciers show in December
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?   I am really excited to see as many new breeders, owners, and exhibitors as our beautiful Seramas keep growing in popularity.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself! I take my poodle to do therapy work in memory care facilities and compete in grooming competitions with him.

Hello, I got my first chickens in 2021 when my father was diagnosed with cancer; I took his 2 Wyandotte hens to my house so my mother wouldn’t have to look after them. I was hooked!! I got my first Seramas in 2022 and have had the opportunity to work with fantastic breeders along the way. I’m the Show Secretary and a founding officer of the Western Kentucky Poultry club and a board member for the American Coturnix Breeders Association.

My goal as a breeder and exhibitor is to create a supportive and welcoming environment for new exhibitors! I appointed myself the “Big Sister of Exhibition Poultry” the year WKPC hosted our first show; if you’re new, come sit by me. I may not know everything but we’ll sure figure it out together! I have one son who is usually willing to participate in poultry activities, but he’s a teenager and sometimes I’m not cool (allegedly). When I’m “not cool” my nieces and nephews are ready to hang out or help Aunt Sassy. We have 6 cats, 3 rabbits (2 Angora and 1 New Zealand) and 1 dog (German Shepherd) in addition to chickens, ducks, quail and pigeons. Within the ag world my particular interest are: genetics, bio security, nutrition and learning about herbal medicine and how it can be applied to people/animals.

I work as a Financial Auditor and am an accountant by education, I hope to become more experienced in farm accounting to be able to better help small operations perform better financially. I keep an eye on politics and legislation as it relates agriculture and animals, I believe we must be involved if we want to maintain our industry and see it succeed. Breeds we raise: Serama, Kiki Riki’s, bantam partridge Wyandottes, blue black splash and birchen bantam Cochins, Mille Fleur d’Uccle, Mille Fleur Booted Bantams and Silkies in buff, black and paint. Quail- Coturnix, Bobwhite and Button. Pigeons- Tipplers, Modenas, German Owls, Helmets, Kings, Rollers and Fantails.
