National Shows

Each year, the SCNA Governing Council selects the locations for our Nationals and Semi‑Nationals through an open and fair bidding process. Around January 30th, we post the application for hosting Nationals and keep it open for three weeks (longer if we need more bids). Any District Rep, State Rep, or any SCNA member may apply to host a show, as long as they have discussed it with their state reps (if applicable) or other members in their area. Applicants should have a reasonable expectation of enough birds and exhibitors to make the event as large and successful as possible.
Once bids close, the Governing Council reviews all applications together, discussing the pros and cons of each location in an impartial way. GC members are expected to vote based on what best serves the membership as a whole — not simply for their own district. We consider where recent shows have been held, the strength of the applications, and give extra consideration to newer shows and fresh locations so more members have a chance to attend a major event. On June 15th, bids open for Semi‑Nationals, and the same fair, transparent process is followed.
