SCNA Committee & Governing Council Updates

The SCNA Governing Council and committees continue to work behind the scenes on projects designed to strengthen the organization, support our members, and help move the Serama breed forward. Below are updates from the Constitution & Bylaws Committee, Judges Committee, Membership Committee, and District leadership.

Constitution & Bylaws Committee Update

The 30-day notice for the latest proposed Constitution and Bylaws (CBL) updates has been posted, along with explanations for each proposed change. These revisions continue the ongoing process of reviewing, clarifying, and improving our governing documents based on previous member votes and discussions.

Members are encouraged to review the proposed updates and the accompanying explanations before they appear on the upcoming ballot. This ballot will also include nominations for the 2027–2028 SCNA Governing Council.

Judges Committee Update

Judge Committee Chair Frank Lupton and the Judges Committee have been continuing their work on developing a Visual Defect Guide to help provide clearer educational resources for breeders, exhibitors, and judges. The committee is currently seeking quality photographs to help illustrate the defects and examples included in the guide.

Members who have photographs they would like to contribute are encouraged to review the submission guidelines here: (link)

The Judges Committee is also revisiting discussions on how best to move forward with establishing a standard for the modern Malaysian-type Serama. The committee is evaluating the process, considerations, and steps needed to create a clear and fair standard that reflects the direction of the breed while maintaining the integrity of the Serama.

Membership Committee Update

The Membership Committee has been discussing new items and merchandise options to add to the official SCNA Shop. Thank you to all members who have taken the time to complete the feedback form and share ideas about products and items you would like to see available.

Your input helps guide decisions on future shop offerings. The committee is also working on an overall branding refresh that will coordinate with upcoming merchandise and help create a more consistent SCNA identity across our materials.

District Updates

SCNA District Chair Tyler Anderson has been actively sharing judging practice videos and educational content with members. He has also been reaching out to members who may be interested in serving as representatives within the SCNA district structure.

Continuing to Build the Future of SCNA

The Governing Council appreciates the time, effort, and dedication of all committee members and volunteers who continue contributing to the growth and improvement of the SCNA. We also thank our members for their feedback, participation, and continued support as we work together to build a stronger future for the organization and the Serama breed.
