CBL Committee Update

We’d like to provide an update on the progress of the Constitution and Bylaws (CBL) Committee.
As a reminder, members voted last year to approve the first five articles of the revised Constitution and Bylaws. The committee has continued its work, and additional updated articles will be presented for member vote this summer. Our goal is to complete the full revision, with the remaining articles included on the annual Governing Council election ballot this October.
The purpose of this effort is to modernize a document that has become outdated, lengthy, and at times repetitive. While there are no major policy changes overall, many sections currently reflect processes that are no longer in use. For example, the membership process still references paper applications and manual approval by a membership secretary—procedures that have not been used since 2017. Similarly, references to in-person annual meetings and voting at the annual Louisiana show have not reflected how the organization has operated for well over a decade.
The revised CBL will be streamlined, better organized, and aligned with how the club operates today. It will reflect current practices such as online voting and virtual meetings via Zoom or phone. In addition, inconsistencies and conflicting language throughout the document are being resolved to ensure clarity and accuracy.
To improve usability, the final document will include a clear table of contents, be fully searchable, and structured for easy navigation. Alongside this work, we are also developing an internal intranet. This will house detailed policies and procedures, onboarding resources for Governing Council members, and provide a secure, centralized location for document storage—enhancing both accessibility and data security.
