Each article has been separated and put onto a PDF which will have the current/old version AND the new/streamlined version. For simplicity, we color coded removed passages in red and added in green We also added a summary of the changes and explanation as to why we are updating it. The main reason for the updates to this entire document is to make it easier to read and streamlined for members to reference. Click the Blue Links to show the proposed updates vs the current document.
All references to the By Law article and number have been temporarily deleted because when we are updating the document, these ordering will change.  Once this project has been completed, reference to the updated articles will be added back in.

Article 1 is unchanged and only refers to the SCNA’s Legal Name.

Article 2 Explanation of changes:
Addition of a Mission Statement.

1.1 removal- The GC has voted to admit no more additional state councils to the organization.
Every state that has a rep or an individual that puts on shows, already works either individually or with a committee for every show that they put on.
The rest of the section has been consolidated, re-ordered and added the word “accepted” to the standards description for clarification.

Article 3 Remains unchanged as it refers to the SCNA as a non-profit organization

Article 4 This article has been outdated or awhile. We have added “same address” to clarify family memberships, we have changed the old wording of needing to apply for membership which needed to be approved, to the current process of joining online. We also updated the statement about voting taking place in person at the annual meeting. We vote online now and although we legally have to have an in person, annual meeting, new business rarely, if ever will take place at the meeting. This is still within the legal guidelines of Louisiana law.
We also added the requirement of being an SCNA member for 60 days before being allowed to vote. The reason for this, is we have had votes in the past where someone will ask friends or family to join the SCNA just to quickly vote for their personal agenda item and then cancel their membership. By making a 60 day requirement, we are hoping to reduce those unfair practices.
Also added- the free judge’s memberships which were approved a few years ago and never added to this section.
Code of conduct- added “in person” because the current code refers only to online behavior. We have had several incidents of exhibitors practicing improper behavior with judges and other exhibitors, members who give the SCNA a bad name in various venues. Unfortunately, common sense needs to be written into this document here so victims of this behavior aren’t afraid to address it.

Article 5 Clarifies some wording about the 7 GC members and their positions. The main update in this article are the qualifications of GC members and the reason for this, is to make sure that the members we have representing the club are able to fulfill their duties as far as time availability, dedication, basic computer knowledge about being able to check emails, participate in online meetings, and above all, adhere to the common goals of the SCNA as a recognized poultry club and it’s standards without distractions of being heavily involved with another serama organization beyond only exhibiting.
