Our Story

The Serama Council of North America (SCNA) is a nonprofit organization established in 2003, following the initial importation of Seramas from Malaysia into the United States in 2001 by a small group of dedicated early breeders. Formed to support, promote, and standardize the breed, SCNA has grown into the original and largest Serama breed club in North America.

Since its founding, the organization has played a central role in the development and recognition of the Serama within the United States. Through the efforts of its membership, the breed has steadily increased in popularity and visibility, becoming one of the most recognized bantam breeds in the country.

Today, SCNA members actively organize sanctioned shows, educational events, and community gatherings across nearly every region of the United States. The organization remains committed to preserving breed standards, encouraging responsible breeding practices, and fostering a strong and connected community of Serama enthusiasts.

MISSION STATEMENT:  The SCNA is dedicated to organizing and supporting Serama enthusiasts by fostering education, ethical breeding, and competitive exhibition.

It promotes adherence to accepted breed standards, encourages community engagement, and advocates for the breed’s recognition within the ABA and APA. 

Goals and Objectives

To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people involved and interested in the Serama breed in all its currently accepted types and varieties.

To improve and protect the breed through selective breeding, adherence to currently accepted SCNA standards, and pursuit of variety recognition by the APA and ABA.

To provide education and mentor youth and adults to develop interest, knowledge, and skills in the Serama breed.

To promote the breeding and showing of all recognized Serama types through sanctioned Table Top and In Cage exhibition.

To sponsor national and semi-national meets, conduct district and state meets, and encourage good sportsmanship and advancement of interest in the breed.
